Tutor Training Workshop
Basic Literacy and ESOL
(English for Speakers
of Other Languages)


We are pleased to announce that our next Combined Basic Literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Tutor Training Workshops will take place as follows:

Tutor Training:

Geneva Evening Sessions

Canandaigua Daytime Sessions

Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 9-October 2

Mondays and Thursdays, October 16-November 10







In-Service Schedule: In-service presentations highlight areas of interest not necessarily covered in tutor training. It is recomended that tutors try to attend at least one, or more, sessions. Specific dates will be announced.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications for becoming a Literacy Volunteer Tutor:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Able to read and comprehend English
  • Interested in helping adults learn
  • Able to attend Orientation and ALL workshop sessions
  • Willingness to do homework associated with training
  • High School graduate or GED (recommended)
  • Willingness to devote 2 hours per week to work with an adult student
  • Willingness to keep records and make reports as requested by LVOC
